McKenney is an experienced and award-winning councilperson who is committed to our community. She works hard for us in furthering good jobs, strong families, attracting and assisting businesses, supporting our safety forces, veterans, safer schools, education, flood prevention, overdose prevention, road repairs, lower tax dollars, fiscal responsibility, transparency of government, caring for our environment and meeting the needs of seniors.

She has worked to lower taxes by being the only official from Summit County to give testimony against raising property values to the Ways and Means Committee meeting in Columbus in 2023. She has also saved citizens thousands of dollars in property taxes by organizing and leading local Homeowner Tax Discount Clinics to help eligible local residents, seniors, disabled and veterans receive the homestead exemption and the 2.5% homeowner occupancy discount, lowering their property taxes.

She has been a Stormwater Task Force Member since its inception in 2019 after meeting with the governor along with other local leaders in order to work together to implement effective flood prevention measures. She cosponsored legislation to create a Summit County Stormwater Management Committee to find methods to reduce and manage stormwater runoff and prevent damage from flooding. In addition, she has voted in recent years for more than 18 million dollars in stormwater projects throughout Summit County including multiple projects in District 7.

During the pandemic, she cosponsored Summit County CARES to help citizens keep utilities on and a roof over their heads. In addition, McKenney cosponsored the Covid-19 Summit County Small Business Emergency Relief Grant which helped our businesses stay afloat.
